"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

Daily Log for 9/28/07

Last night after practice I went home and I did homework for a long time. My parents went to a meeting that went late and so they decided, while I was still sleeping, that we were not going to the YMCA this morning. I would have still gone but my mom is the one who usually wakes me up. So I slept in until she woke me up at 6:30. I was actually rather disappointed about not going but I did need the sleep. I'm really excited for tonight. After school I have Volleyball pictures for the yearbook and then after that I have an induction ceremony for the National Honors Society at 5 PM and then I have a game that starts at 5:30. My grandma is coming tonight and I'm really excited to see her. Then tomorrow I get to go see Mrs. Ostendorf and her new baby, Samuel, who they just came back with from Ethiopia. The pictures that they sent me are so cute and I just know that they are so happy. Then Sunday is the Feast of Tabernacles at church and so I get to see a bunch of old friends who are coming back just for that. This weekend is going to be awesome! So, see ya!

Fitness Log for 9/27/07

I woke up early to go to the YMCA and I enjoyed my time there. Then after school I had Volleyball practice for two hours. It was a lot of fun. I can't wait for our game later. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/27/07

This morning I went to the YMCA with my mom. It felt really good to exercise but for some reason I am overly tired. I think I'll go to bed around 8 tonight. Well, today is Superhero day at school and I'm dressed up as Phantom Girl. She can turn intangible and go through walls and stuff like that. Anyways, a couple months ago I had gone to put on these pair of white shorts and I found out that they didn't fit and I was really upset. Well, today I found those same shorts and so I tried them on and they fit perfectly! I was very excited to see that they fit me. I'm really glad for the exercise because now I don't have to go out and buy bigger shorts I can just give these away when they're too big for me. YES! I can get a whole new wardrobe and it will actually fit me. I'm very excited. Thank you God! See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/26/07

I went to the YMCA before school for an hour. It felt really good to exercise. Then after school I had Volleyball practice. I really enjoyed it. I hope we do good in our game on Friday, I'm really excited for it. So that's it. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/26/07

Well, today is my mom's birthday. I won't say how old she is because age does not matter in life. Maybe for physical things it does but everything else it doesn't. I'm so proud of her for getting up with me and going to the YMCA everyday. It really helps me to do it with someone else. Anyways, I woke up early and my dad and I went to the YMCA this morning. We had a lot of fun. After school today I have Volleyball practice and then I have youth group so I hope I can get all my homework done. I'm really excited for Sunday because my teacher, Mrs. Ostendorf, is coming home with her newly adopted son, Samuel Mintesenot Ostendorf. I think he's really cute, at least the pictures make him look very cute. Anyways, she goes to my church and so I get to be one of her only students to see the baby before school next week. I'm so happy for her and her husband. So, my weekend is booked but I will still go to the YMCA. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/25/07

I went to the YMCA before school for an hour. Then I went home and got ready for school. After school I had no practice because the Volleyball coaches wanted us to go to the soccer games to support the soccer teams. So I went to the girls' soccer game. While I was there a couple of us started our own Volleyball game for about 20 minutes. So that's it. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/25/07

This morning I woke up and went to the YMCA with both of my parents. I really needed to get to the YMCA, I'm feeling it from this last weekend where I didn't get enough exercise. I was going to have practice after school but because the Volleyball team wants to support the soccer team we decided to skip practice and go watch the soccer games. So I really am getting rather behind, like I can feel that I'm behind. I'm really starting to like exercise, I used to not like it when I was younger but now I can feel that I need it. I hope I can make up the lost hour(s) this weekend from last week. Speaking of weekend, Mrs. Ostendorf is coming home Friday with her new little baby. I'm so excited to see him. I may be able to see him when the land but probably not so I will wait until Sunday to see him. I'm also interested to see how my Food Log goes for 10 days. I think I can learn a lot from it. My parents are also learning a lot and I'm so proud of them for doing this with me. Since I'm getting graded for exercise I need to keep at it, but it's them who get to do it by choice. I know after this class is done that I will also be able to do it by choice because I will have learned so much and feel so good that I will want to do it. I really can't wait to see how God is going to use me and this class. But, I will wait patiently and take everything as it comes. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/24/07

I did not get to go to the YMCA because I got back from Oklahoma rather late and my mom thought that it would be best if I just went to bed and did not go to the YMCA. Then after school I had Volleyball practice and I really enjoyed it. We did a lot of running for missed passes and missed serves. I hope we do well in our next game which is this Friday. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/24/07

I had a lovely time this weekend. I really want to go back next year, but I really don't want to go through the drive again. It was too long. I didn't snack this weekend but I did eat sweets at the meals. I also had some icecream for desert a couple nights so I really need to kick back into the new change. I didn't get as much exercise as I have been for the last couple weeks so now I'm feeling the drag that it causes. I can actually feel that my body is crying out for exercise. So I'm going to push myself this next week. I may not be able to get up early enough to go to the 5:30 classes but I will still get up and go to the YMCA. My mom told me that she still went every day, so I'm a little behind with her right now. I'm going to make it up and I'm going to get rid of these old habits for good. Actually, yesterday when we were coming home we stopped at this store in Des Moines and Sarah bought this big piece of chocolate cake. Before I started this lifestyle change I would have eaten that whole piece of dark, rich, chocolate cake but now I looked at it and I felt like if I put one bite of that cake in me that I would throw up. It was just too much chocolate and too much cake. So I'm rather proud of myself. At the conference there was a time when they said that we needed to throw away our "I can't"s so that God can use us. One of my I can'ts is that I can't lose weight and I can't be healthily skinny. So all my "I can't"s are buried and burned - they don't exist anymore and I'm going to achieve my goals that I've set for myself. I'm very excited and I really can't wait to see how God's going to use me at the end of this. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/19-9/23

On Wednesday I left for Oklahoma. I had a wonderful time down there. The first night Sarah and I went swimming for 20 minutes before we went to bed and we had a lovely time. Then Thursday I did nothing but driving in the car. For a couple hours Friday. Also, on Friday the conference offered these really cool classes. Sarah and I both went to this one class called "Lean Mean or Drama Queen." It was very factual. I did not know that the average American consumes 20 teaspoons of sugar per day and 92lbs of sugar a year! I also learned that Aspartame turns into formaldehyde in your body and that Monosodium Glutamate causes fatigue and hunger. I learned a lot in that class. Saturday I also walked for an hour and I also went swimming. Then for like the rest of the weekend I was in a car for hours! I am so tired of sitting. Oh well. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/18/07

This morning I woke up early and went to the YMCA. It felt really good to exercise. I'm realizing that doing the YMCA and exercising is not all that hard, it just takes commitment. I'm really excited to go to Oklahoma this weekend. Last night I went shopping and I got a bunch of new clothes. I'm really excited because I bought some that may not fit me as well now but I know they will in a little bit. Yesterday, as I was reading the booklet I thought that is was really cool how getting enough nutrition when you're young can determine how healthy you are when you're an adult. It all starts when you're young, doesn't it? But then again, you can't quit after you hit adolescence. My great-grandmother was a very active woman and she would work like crazy. When she was 93 she slipped and broke her back and that was the catalyst that started everything. She died at the ripe old age of 97 but I believe she could have lived to be 110. So being active and taking calcium and other vitamins to help strengthen your body is very important for living longer. I think that's really cool. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/17/07

In the morning I went to the YMCA for an hour. I really enjoyed doing it because I felt so much better after I went. For the last weekend I was sick and everytime that I go to the YMCA now makes me feel better afterwards. In the evening, after school, I had a Volleyball game. We lost. Oh well. The gym was extremely hot, like just doing a little bit of movement made you sweat. I had fun though. I can't wait for this weekend. I'm going to try to do exercise with my friends but I probably wont be able to do it all that much. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/17

This morning I got up and went to the YMCA. I enjoyed it and I didn't feel very tired before or after going. I think I'm getting this YMCA thing. When I went to put on some new pants, that I bought like 2 weeks ago, I noticed that the pant legs seemed a little big. I was very happy. My clothes are starting to be big on me and I like it. I think I've lost like 10 lbs already - PTL! I weighed myself on Friday and I had lost 8 so far so I'm pretty sure I've lost 10 already. I have a game tonight so that should be good. I hope we win. I also hope my cold does not get in the way of my game. I'm excited for this weekend. I'm going to Oklahoma with a couple friends and so I get to introduce them to my workout routine, but I don't get to go to the YMCA. I'll think of some other things. Ms. Reese suggested that I bring a workout video or take them for a hike/walk or do something else that is exercise. I think it will be fun. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/13 - 9/16

On Thursday I did not go to the YMCA because I was overly tired and I had hurt my hand the day before at practice. But I did have a Volleyball game that night for which we won. I think I played really well considering I had a hurt hand. Friday I went to the YMCA for an hour, but I didn't really do much because I woke up sick Friday morning and I was having trouble breathing while I was using the machines. I did try a class called Body Step, but it was like level III and I had no idea what I was doing so I just left and went back to the treadmill. Saturday I was had a family reunion, sort of. My aunt and uncle came from Wisconsin and they held a Sportsman's' Expo. My uncle, Mathew McPherson, is the founder and president of McPherson Guitars and Mathew's Bows. So I spent like an hour walking around there. It was quite fun but I didn't get to the YMCA that day because I was too sick to go. Sunday, I went to the YMCA for an hour and I actually felt better after going. So, that was my weekend. Oh yeah, on Sunday I took my dog for a walk. So that's it. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/13/07

I have been really tired lately because I haven't been getting enough sleep. So yesterday after just barely making it through the day my mom decided that we shouldn't go to the YMCA today. I was fine with that and so I got to sleep in until 6:30 instead of 5:30, which was quite a relief because I really needed that extra hour to sleep. So I'm feeling a little better today and I'm quite excited about the game tonight. Tomorrow should be a nice day to go to the YMCA and exercise and get some sleep and get my homework done before my busy Saturday. Well, I should go. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/12/07

I went to the YMCA for an hour before school. It was relaxing for me. I then had practice after school for two hours. Tonight I have a game and I really hope I can focus enough to not mess up or get down on myself. I've been really tired lately so sleep will be good. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/12/07

I woke up with a headache and was quite tired but I still went to the YMCA. I was there, with both my parents, for an hour and then I went home and had oatmeal for breakfast. Then today after school I have practice again. I'm rather excited for it if we do the same passing drill as we did yesterday because that was so much fun. I weighed myself last night and in last two days I've lost a pound. So if I keep that up I can reach my goal sooner than I thought. I'm really excited for this weekend, to see my aunt and uncle from Wisconsin. But I have a dilemma. Next week I leave Wednesday for Oklahoma for a women's conference with the Coughlin's so I wont be able to get the 4.5 hours of exercise at the YMCA next week. I'm wondering if I should just do double this week and make that count for next week's hours. I'll see. OK, see ya!

Fitness Log for 9/11/07

I went to the YMCA for an hour before school. I enjoyed the exercise. Then after school I had Volleyball practice for two hours. We had a lot of fun at practice because Coach Penny joined in to play with us during a passing drill. I think we worked on passing for an hour and a half. I had so much fun. OK, so I guess that's all. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/11/07

Today is September 11. This day marks the 6th anniversary since the planes hit the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon. I got up early this morning and went to the YMCA for an hour and I mostly did the treadmill because of my sore legs. I actually woke up just fine but now I'm feeling rather tired, oh well. I have practice today after school and so that should be a good time to exercise. I'm really excited for this weekend because I get to see my aunt and uncle who are flying into the Anoka County Airport and then they are performing a concert in, I think, Plymouth. So I get to share what's happening so far with them and I know my aunt will be proud of me because she has been one whose been pushing me for so long to get a healthy lifestyle, not in a mean way but in a caring and loving way by sharing what she's found to help with problems with her body. So, I'm going to be reading some of the assigned reading for this week and next and then maybe tomorrow I'll reflect on some of what I've read so far. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/10/07

I woke up around 5:30 and went to the YMCA for an hour before school. I was really tired and quite sore from my Body Pump class the day before so I didn't exercise quite as rigorously as I've been doing for the last week or so. Then I had a game that evening and so I played volleyball for an hour and fifteen minutes. We won the match, but we should not have given them that one game. Oh well, we creamed them in the third game. So that was all the exercise that I did so see ya!

Daily Log for 9/10/07

I went to the YMCA this morning and I had a great time. Dispite my sore legs from the Body Pump yesterday I am feeling great. I spent most of my time on the treadmill because of my sore legs and that felt so good. I think tomorrow I will be going again and then I'll also have my mom come and take me for a walk around the water tower. My mom has decided that I should have oatmeal instead of cereal or breakfast scramblers and eggs. I think it's a good idea because I get a full meal with lots of nutrients and I can put fruit in it and it tastes so good, but I don't think I can do it everyday. I'm thinking of taking only a couple days a month for hot lunch at school and then the rest I would bring a salad to school. I can't believe that in the last week my mom and I both lost a lot of weight, her 9lbs, and me 5lbs. Well, I'm pretty excited. Then tonight I have a game and so I'll get a little more exercise there. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/8/07 - 9/9/07

I went to the YMCA for 2 hours this weekend, one hour Saturday and one hour Sunday. Sunday I spent the hour in the Body Pump class at the YMCA and I'm rather sore today. Sunday morning I weighed myself and I've lost 5lbs in the last week!!!! I'm so proud of myself, and my mom who lost 9lbs already. I've realized that the treadmill burns more calories than the bike in the same amount of time, so I'm going to be using the treadmill a little more. I tried once the stair stepper and I don't think I can handle that every time that I go but I will do it twice a week. I haven't been brave enough to use the weights but I'm getting there. Then the elipticals never work for me because I have too long of a stride for them, but that's OK. I think I'm going to be just fine at the end of all this. See ya!

Fitness Hours

Week 2

YMCA - 4:45
Walking - 15 min
Practice - 8:00
Volleyball Games - 2:15
Running - 0:00
Biking - 0:00
Other - 0:00

Daily Log for 9/7/07

This morning I got up early and went to the YMCA for an hour. I really enjoyed the exercise. Then I went home and had some breakfast and then came to school. I think I can get used to this morning thing because even though I'm tired from the lack of sleep my brain feels clear because I exercised and it made me feel better and think clearer despite not getting enough sleep. So I think I'll like this going to the YMCA every morning and I'm sure my body will thank me later. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/6/07

For about 2 hours I practiced Volleyball. Then after that I went home and took my dog for a walk and then I did homework and went to bed. So I didn't do much exercise for yesterday but I will get my hours done for this week. See ya!

Fitness Log for 9/5/07

Yesterday I went to the YMCA in the morning, for 45 minutes, and I really enjoyed it. I think it's going to be lots of fun doing it before school, when your fresh and ready to start the day. But after school I had Student Council so I didn't get to go to practice for the full two hours. I went in at 4:20 so I only got 40 minutes of practice time. So I have to make up some more time this weekend when I go to do my classes. I'm realizing another habit that I have is some days I just get in this mood of I need to chew something. So whenever I don't have gum with me I always turn to sweets. This happened last night at Youth Group. I got there and it all of a sudden hit me that I needed to chew something, I don't quite know why but I just sometimes get this feeling that comes on me and I don't really know what sparks it. Anyways, so I didn't have any gum with me and I saw a tootsie pop in the youth store and so I bought it and I was sucking on it when it hit me that I shouldn't be eating this. So I threw it away but I really need to not do that anymore. So, I guess that's all. See ya!

Daily Log for 9/6/07

Today is picture day so I didn't get to go to the YMCA this morning because I didn't want to look bad for pictures, but I will go tomorrow and the rest of the weekend. I slept really well last night but I didn't go to bed early enough. I found out last night that my cousin, who just got over Limes' Disease before going into college, now has strep. I'm thinking "well, she never did get in a good habit of taking care of herself and now she has to deal with it all by herself without her parents there pushing her to do the right thing. So if I plan on being healthy in college I need to start now creating healthy living habits." I think it's a good motivation because I don't want to be sick all the time in college. I want to be able to do my studies and have a life changing experience and get a job. So that's another reason to have a healthy lifestyle. So, see ya!

Fitness Hours

Last week I did the following:
YMCA - 2:22
Walking - 0:15
Practice - 6:00
Volleyball Games - 2:35
Running - 0:10
Biking - 0:00
Other - none

Fitness Log for 9/4/07

I didn't do much for fitness other than playing two Volleyball games. I played the entire second game in both matches. I had lots of fun but I wish I could have done more than just play Volleyball, maybe I could have taken my dog for a walk, but what's done is done. I'm planning on going to the YMCA every morning so that should be good. Maybe I'll get a personal trainer with the 12 week fitness course, who knows. It will be good to have someone pushing myself. I've realized that it's a lot easier to fit time in for exercise than not eating sweets and dairy stuff. I think I've fallen one to many times recently. I'm going to do my best though and I'm going to remind myself that if I take one sweet I'll have to take another and then I'll be stuck in this repeating pattern. But I'm going to break it. So I guess that's all, see ya!

Daily Log for 9/5/07

This morning my mom and I woke up at 5:30 and went to the YMCA for exercise. I went on the bike for 20 minutes and the treadmill for about 10 minutes, we were a little cramped for time. Then today after school I have Volleyball practice but I will be late to it because of Student Council. At least I got some exercise in this morning. I started planning what I want to write about in my "How To" booklet for teenage girls and I'm pretty excited about it. My mom told me that if it's really good I could publish it. It's a possibility. I'm still sore from my Core Conditioning, which means that I need to do more core exercises. I'll add some into my exercise routine. My mom said that I'm looking healthier but I can't seem to notice a difference, but I will in a few months if I keep this up. See ya!

Fitness Log for 8/31-9/3

On Friday I didn't really do much for exercise, just some house cleaning. Oh yeah, I also had practice where we had to run a lot for not cleaning up the locker room. Then that evening I went to a party at a friend's house and we played Volleyball for about 45 minutes. Then Saturday I took my parents to the YMCA for about an hour and a half. I biked for 6.4 miles and ran about 2.7 miles on the treadmill. Then a few hours later my dad and I went to the State Fair where, according to his pedometer, we walked/hiked for 7 miles. Then Sunday I didn't do anything but hiking up stairs at the Metrodome, I went to a Twin's game with some friends. Then Monday I again took my parents to the YMCA where I took a class called "Core Conditioning." It was painful but in a good way. Then right after that I biked for 7.3 miles in 15 minutes. So I was really tired out. Then later Sarah Coughlin called and asked if I wanted to swim, so I biked over to her house and swam then biked back. So Monday was a very productive day but today I am very sore. Tonight I have two games for Volleyball and I also plan to go to bed early so I can go to the YMCA tomorrow to do, I think, Group Cycling. So, see ya!

Daily Log for 9/4/07

This morning I had originally planned to go to the YMCA and I would have had to get up at 5 to do it, but I ended up going to bed later than I had planned. So starting tomorrow I am going to the YMCA every morning for a class. I'm also planning on either going to the YMCA during my Independent Study time or my mom and I go for a walk around the water tower. Either way I get out to do some exercise. I can't wait for tonights games. The JV team has 2 games, one at 4 and one at 6. So in between the games I need to get my homework done so I can go to bed on time so I can get up early tomorrow. So I guess that's it.
